"It is always the simple things that change our lives. And these things never happen when you are looking for them to happen. Life will reveal answers at the pace life wishes to do so. You feel like running, but life is on a stroll. This is how God does things" Donald Miller

Rafting the Nile River in Jinja, Uganda

Climbing the Mountain

We did it.  All 7 of us made it to Uhuru Summit, 5,895 meters in the sky.  It was not an easy climb, 6 out of the 7 of us were very sick from the altitude.  On summit night, we left at 12 am to start the climb to the summit.  We climbed for seven hours, most of us throwing up and almost passing out the entire way, but we made it to the summit at 7:30 am, a little after sunrise.  It was beautiful.  It is truly one of the most amazing feelings to each the top and look out above the clouds.  I have never been more exhausted, I wanted to quit the entire time.  But I just kept going, one step at a time, and finished.

Here are some pics from our incredible journey.

Trying to pack all the gear...

So much to fit into a tiny little bag...

Summary of the journey...

First camp, 3,000 meters.  We hiked for 6 hours to reach it.

This pose made me feel super hardcore...I needed all the motivation I could give myself.

Second day, passed by some beautiful streams and waterfalls.

Third day campsite.

Uhuru Peak...I made it.  Thank GOD.

Pure happiness....

Celebrating on the last day!

Singing and dancing the last day on the mountain.
